Mai Tai = Tahitian for “Out of this world – The Best”.

History: In 1994 after success with several exotic drinks, a bit of serendipity happened that would not only place Trader Vic’s at the forefront of cocktail mixology but would also earn him a place in history. That day in Oakland, The Trader pulled down a bottle of 17-year-old Jamaican Rum, added a squeeze of lime, a dash of rock candy syrup, a splash of orange curacao, some French Orgeat and poured the concoction over cracked ice. He handed to a friend visiting from Tahiti who immediately exclaimed, “It’s Mai Tai Roa Ae!” (Tahitian for “Out of this world – The Best”, and the first Mai Tai was born – Paradise in a Glass.

Mai Tai Lounge by Trader Vic's is a very much beloved and well-known establishment on the Island. Having operated now for 22 years, our recent growth in Outlet's is a direct representation of the love and almost ''cult like'' following we have. We proudly introduced our 2nd Mai Tai Lounge officially in October 2021, located in Gallery21, Adliya. Its first year of operation has proved a huge success and as such has buoyed it to continue to develop the Brand.
